Neil Moffatt Race & Charity Night
The most poignant night of the week was on Sunday 1st August when the club again held the Neil Moffatt race. This race has been rowed every year since 1994 in memory of Neil. Neil's dad Chris was in his usual role as coxswain and this year he was in Dove and his crew did him proud as they opened up a good lead on the first leg and held it all the way to the end. The 7pm race started promptly on time at 7.25pm on a night where the seas were very flat indeed allowing some very good rowing. Dr Anton Kruger, Senior Consultant Haematologist at Treliske Hospital was at the club to make the presentations and to give an update on Cornwall Leukemia Trust. He presented the shield and trophies to winning coxswain Chris Moffatt and his crew of Mark Rea, Dave Ball, Daniel Gilbert, Richard Martin, Aaron Trebilcock and Lowenna Barberry. It was a marvellous night and fabulous to see so many youngsters encouraged to take part. As is always the case there was a generous auction in the clubhouse to raise monies for the Trust and over the years thousands of pounds have been raised. It truly was a wonderful occasion for one and all.
